- Among respondents who are shopping Wal-Mart and Target less, an increased percentage are either trading down to dollar stores or are just shopping less in general (relative to historical readings, a lower percentage are using Amazon instead).
- Self-reported visit recency/frequency is roughly in-line to historicals for Wal-Mart and a bit softer q/q for Target.
- After spend per visit among customers is down a touch q/q for both Wal-Mart and Target customers, but still right near series highs.
- Customers of Wal-Mart and Target have been increasingly likely to say they noticed price increases during their most recent visit. The data took its first step back q/q in almost two years, this quarter (ie, the percentage of customers who said prices are higher or much higher declined q/q for the first time in two years).
