Survey Says…

All Consumers

Social Media Usage By Age

62.9% of all respondents feel people should start using social media apps at 16 or older.

Parents

Consent at 15 or 16

Most parents would give their consent for a 15 or 16 year-old to use social media.

Parents

Laws Restricting Use By Age

Parents are strongly in favor of laws that would prohibit children 14 and under from using social media and requiring consent for 15 and 16 year-olds.

All Respondents

Consumers are fairly divided on whether social platforms are good or bad for their mental health.

Notably, users of platforms like Roblox, Pinterest, and YouTube have a more favorable opinion of each respective platform’s impact on their mental health.

Age Crosstabs

Mental Health

For some platforms, younger respondents are more likely to believe the platform is bad for their mental health (Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok).
